EPIC MEDICINE
Exploring Pathways and Investigating Careers (EPIC) in Medicine provides an online community and resource platform for premedical students. Students are supported to critically reflect on whether medicine is truly the quest for them and if so, what premedical pathway would most align with their goals, considering the various life- changing aspects in choosing medicine. All of this while getting the most out of their undergraduate years as a healthy premed at Stanford. EPIC would 1) be a centralized resource with information on different topics surrounding the premedical process and medical career as well as 2) serve as a community forum where students can connect with one another and access premedical resources, and more.

OIL PAINTING
By endowing clinical spaces in the Emergency Department (ED) with meaningful and uplifting art, I hope to 1) promote cross-cultural understanding, pride, and appreciation for San Jose’s diversity and 2) facilitate an enriching and pleasant experience for both those inside and outside of the community that traverse the local ED. The end result I envision is regenerating a space, often associated with dreariness, lacking colors and life, into a beautiful and engaging environment conducive to healing.

HERO YOUTHS
The Hope and Empowerment for Rural Oaxaqueño (HERO) Youths project is dedicated to improving education and livelihood skills for youths from disadvantaged communities in rural Oaxaca. We expect that with better education these communities will break the cycle of poverty they find themselves in to achieve economic peace. Through use of Photovoice in which youths capture the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of their communities, the HERO Youths project aims to promote economic peace by 1) helping youths develop technical computer literacy skills that will prepare them for the workforce, 2) fostering interconnectedness and collaboration among youths from the different ethnic groups to maintain peaceful communities, and 3) inspiring a sense of the youth’s ownership of their future through self-acquired funding for higher education.
