So far, so good... & Maintaining balance
Phew...so far, so good.
The Stanford Fund and Amplo people have been doing a great job in helping to get the word out.
I am surprised by how many are voting for me. How did they hear about the project? What compelled them to support EPIC Medicine?
I have made more progress with the website design and features. Physicially, it does not look much different from the preview in Post 1. Yet, during that time, I was able to add on many features that are essential to the website's backbone. This includes having it be password protected and accessible by unique member log in, creating the forum, and managing the subscription list. EPIC Medicine platform is to be published later, and it is now in Beta mode which only I can see. I am using HTML5 editor.
I am talking to my room mate tonight to see what feedback she has, from her experience creating her own website before. I would also like to talk with various other Stanford students for their input before launching.
Of course, EPIC Medicine is one of the several projects I am working on this summer. Amidst, I am also working on my honors thesis and participating in a Stanford in Government (SIG) Fellowship. My fellowship is at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (Valley Med) in San Jose, where I am piloting an enrichment training on improving the Doctor-Patient-Computer relationship. I currently still work at my old job as an intern at The Village Doctor clinic in Woodside. In addition, I am working on my Fulbright proposal to do a fellowship in Oaxaca, Mexico after I graduate. Also, did I mention I was gone for the first half of the summer helping to lead a course/trip in Oaxaca? Then there are little things here and there such as hanging out with my sister and cooking with friends, etc.
I am not sure if this is just me or Stanford students in general: always doing something. I find that self-care is extremely important especially at times like these. I wanted to do well and focus more on EPIC Medicine, which has been challenging due to other commitments. I am phasing out of my internship at Woodside, and combining my honors thesis with the SIG fellowship, which worked out quite nicely and my supervisor was excited about me conducting a quality improvment study at Valley Med.
Recently, I have also gotten into the practice of doing Yoga and meditating regularly every morning to keep my mind sane.
One step at a time.
Until next time,
Vy
