Overcoming mountains
Hello all,
Happy Christmakwanzanuka!
As the holidays approach, I wanted to take an opportunity to reflect over the year.
Successes:
My immersion into the Community Health and Prevention Research Master's program at Stanford has been wonderful so far. My future aspirations have began to crystalize as I learn about medicine and a healer's potential impact on health policy. From environmental to social factors driving health outcomes, my future as a physician entails a shift in consciousness that my role as a healer greatly extends beyond the clinical setting. I remember almost giving up on medicine because the opportunities to make a difference seemed so limited. However, my experience in health advocacy really reeled me into medicine, and I am now committed to transforming the health care system through leadership on both clinical and non-medical spheres.
Lessons:
I tried balancing a lot of things this year. It has been challenging, and I aim to be more focused in 2016. For one, I will revive my meditation habits. I am doing well so far. In addition, I also learned to make sure I remember to cherish dear friends and enjoy being in the moment. Of course, there is a lot more to say. I will head off to rest now :)
Cheers,
Vy
